Our 4th and 5th graders got the opportunity to talk virtually with Captain Louis Freeman. He was the first African American pilot to fly for Southwest Airlines.

Mrs Maki's class had a special visitor yesterday...Ms. Lisa from Kids Dentist in Grayslake. We learned about making healthy choices to help keep our teeth healthy.






Ms. Jackson's 5th graders did a Dungeon Escape room where they had to solve math equations with decimals in order to escape!!! Great way to make learning Math fun! Way to go!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Newport February 28th - March 8!
Third, fourth and fifth graders are anxiously waiting to see if their team wins the Super Bowl. Students were given a football for every iReady lesson they passed. The football was used as their vote for who will win the Super Bowl. They did a great job filling up the board, that is a lot of lessons passed!

Newport students had a fun surprise visitor today! The Kenosha Kingfish mascot, Elvis, came to promote the Lil' Fish Reading Program during our SIP day assembly.
