Students at Beach Park Middle School took a step back in time this week as they explored a “Technology Graveyard” set up by Ms. Morea in our Learning Resource Center. 📚🔌

From old floppy disks and VHS tapes to early cell phones and bulky computers, students had the chance to see how far technology has come — and imagine what innovations might come next! 💡✨

As a part of our CABS program here at BPMS, we participate in Life Skills with a weekly lesson in cooking. This week’s N2Y current event on the annual Fall Harvest in Dollywood , Pigeon Forge,Tennessee paired perfectly with homemade mini apple cobbler crumble tarts! Our current events are only a small handful of quality thematic based lessons from the District’s new special education curriculum called Unique Learning Systems. CABS students are working hard to create these tasty treats with Chef assistance, Mr. Omar, Ms. Yount’s classroom Teaching Assistant. Cooking provides our students with growth in sensory processing and executive functioning skills, while creating structure and a positive healthy environment to facilitate social and emotional growth.

We started the Best Buddies program in CABS this year. We partnered up with students from the BPMS Honor Society for today's first Best Buddies meeting. Next month, members of BPMS student council will also join us in another fun-filled peer gathering. This is a school community collaboration with peer mentors joining the CABS classroom for a period of time on SIP days to support communication, build culture and community engagement, and form lasting new friendships with diverse learners. Thank you to all who volunteered their time today. The students in CABS truly enjoyed this experience and look forward to many more to come. This FRI-YAY is out-of-this-world! 🌖 ☀️ See for yourself as 6th graders in Ms. Heard's class experience phases of the moon in real time using a model of the sun and moon. Our 6-8 teachers are hard at work planning investigations, simulations and labs to engage students. We recognize that learners who experience the wonder and amazement of phenomena all around us are more likely to build a conceptual understanding of science in real life! If only you could have heard the students in this classroom cheer as they made a connection to how moon phases are caused. #staycurious #science #corememories
