Dear Oak Crest Families and Staff,
We are excited to share a wonderful announcement - Alexa Young has been approved by the Beach Park Board of Education to serve as the Assistant Principal of Oak Crest School.
Ms. Young brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to student success that makes her an exceptional fit for this leadership role. Over the past year, she has served as the interim assistant principal at Oak Crest, where she had built strong relationships with students, staff, and families while working to support a safe, collaborative, and academically rigorous school environment.
Before stepping into school leadership, Ms. Young served as an instructional coach at Beach Park Middle School, where she led district and building-level professional learning, collaborated with teachers on curriculum implementation, and provided support around high-impact instructional strategies. Her efforts helped elevate instructional practices and student engagement, particularly around tier-one instruction, data-driven planning, and guiding professional learning communities work. Her coaching was instrumental in guiding staff through new curricular initiatives and strengthening classroom learning experiences.
Prior to becoming an instructional coach, Ms. Young spent several years as a classroom teacher, where she was known for creating student-centered, engaging, and cognitively rich environments that prioritized both academic and social-emotional growth. She has taught across a range of grade levels, settings, and the country, which has given her a strong understanding of student development and the importance of vertical alignment in instruction and STEM education.
Throughout her career, Ms. Young has consistently demonstrated leadership by serving on school improvement teams, mentoring new teachers, and facilitating professional development. She brings with her not only instructional expertise but a deep belief in the potential of every child, a commitment to continuous learning, and a collaborative spirit that uplifts the work of those around her.
As Oak Crest embarks on a year of transformation and innovation, we are confident that Ms. Young’s experience, passion, and dedication will continue to move our school forward. She is already deeply invested in the learning, leading, and succeeding of our students and community, and we are thrilled to have her continue in this role.
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Young on her well-deserved appointment. We look forward to the journey ahead and to continuing our partnership with you in supporting the success of every Oak Crest student.
In partnership,
Dr. Denise Wilcox
