new KM Principal

Dear Kenneth Murphy Families and Community,

It is with great excitement and pride that we introduce Mr. Brian Barsotti as the new Principal of Kenneth Murphy Elementary School! Mr. Barsotti brings with him more than 20 years of educational experience, a passion for student growth, and a deep commitment to fostering a welcoming and empowering school community.

Mr. Barsotti began his career in education working at a therapeutic day school, where he developed a strong foundation in supporting diverse student needs. He then transitioned into the public school sector, where he spent the majority of his career as an eighth-grade social studies teacher. Though he loved being in the classroom, an opportunity arose to expand his impact as an assistant principal at Beach Park Middle School. During his time at BPMS, he had the privilege of working alongside what he describes as some of the best educators and most genuine people he’s encountered throughout his career.

From there, Mr. Barsotti continued to grow as a leader, serving as principal of a K-8 school in Antioch. That role gave him the chance to experience the joy and curiosity that elementary students bring to learning – deepening his appreciation for the energy and excitement that young learners bring into the classroom each day. In his current role as principal at Emmons School in District 33, he continues to refine his belief in the power of strong relationships and collaborative school communities.

Mr. Barsotti is excited to return to the Beach Park school community – eager to partner with families, staff, and students at Kenneth Murphy to create a positive, inclusive environment where every child is safe, valued, and challenged to grow so they can learn, lead, and succeed.

Beyond his professional life, Mr. Barsotti has been happily married to his wife Stephanie, for 21 years. Together, they are the proud parents of a 17-year-old daughter who will soon graduate and attend National Louis University in the fall. Family is a core part of his life, and he brings that same sense of care and connection to the communities he serves.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Barsotti back to Beach Park and to Kenneth Murphy Elementary School! We look forward to the future we will build together under his leadership.

In Partnership,

Dr. Denise Wilcox
