Good Afternoon Beach Park Learning Community,
Our school district leadership team participated in the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Conference in early December to begin our work in creating a pathway to the Blue Schools of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Education. The District strategically had building principals, instructional coaches, two board members, the Director of Teaching and Learning, and the District Superintendent, Dr. Denise Wilcox, attend the conference in order to gain insights into what it takes to achieve Blue Ribbon Status, as well as learn from other Districts that have gone through the process in order to create an action plan for the future. Below you will find information pertaining to our rationale, vision, purpose, resources, and action plans for the future of Beach Park District 3 so we can fulfill our District’s mission in serving our students so they can learn, lead, and succeed.
Conference Insights:
Learned about strategies for achieving Blue Ribbon Status
Heard from three keynote speakers on ways to involve the learning community in the process and create a climate and culture within the larger community to support learning excellence
Discovered our District is already implementing many effective practices to create the right learning environment to achieve Blue Ribbon Recognition with a focus on what we need to improve and change to get to where we want to be
Began creating a phased plan for implementation so we can apply to be evaluated for the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award
Discussed future conference plans with the Union Leadership Team to better map out the vision for staff, student, parent, and community involvement
Strategic Objectives:
Developing a phased action plan for Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Designation
Aligning efforts with the current District Strategic Plan
Creating learning pathways that match the District’s established "Portrait of a Learner"
Dr. Wilcox's Vision:
Create optimal learning environments for ALL students
Help students reach their full potential through programming and immersive learning experiences
Prepare students for current and future challenges and opportunities through programming, collaboration with other districts, and planning
Future Planning:
Will incorporate input from community, staff, and students through the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee
Focus on developing the right environment, climate, and culture within our schools and the larger learning community
Generate a comprehensive roadmap for educational excellence as an action plan aligned with District Strategic Priority Areas
Our District is proactively working to improve educational outcomes and seek recognition for its commitment to ALL of OUR students' success. Future planning has already begun, and the District looks forward to sharing plans at future Board Meetings to keep the community informed, involved, and invested in future changes for the District aimed at building a strong learning foundation within our community. We have the opportunity to use our schools as the foundation of our community focused on growth, prosperity, learning, and togetherness.
Believe, has been our theme this year, believing and knowing OUR students can, just watch’em. WE BELIEVE all of our schools can be awarded the Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence Award from the U.S. Department of Education, and that was one of our main purposes for attending this conference. Thank you for your partnership, your support, and your investment in our community school district to attain learning excellence, recognition, and improvement on behalf of OUR students.
In Partnership,
Dr. Denise Wilcox
Superintendent
