Beach Park Middle School students represented District 3 on an international stage, earning top honors at the 2026 Destination Imagination Global Finals competition in Kansas City over Memorial Day Weekend.
The Beach Park Middle School Destination Imagination team, known as The Beach Park Biggies, competed with more than 600 teams from around the world during the event, the highest level of competition within the Destination Imagination program. Global Finals brings together top qualifying teams from regional and affiliate tournaments across multiple countries to showcase creativity, teamwork, innovation, and problem-solving skills.
The annual event is often described as the world’s largest celebration of creativity, where students collaborate to solve complex challenges through improvisation, engineering, performance, storytelling, and critical thinking.
Competing against some of the most talented student teams in the world, The Beach Park Biggies earned an outstanding 16th place in the world in the Middle School Improvisational Challenge and placed an impressive 6th overall in the Instant Challenge portion of the competition.
In the Improvisational Challenge, the team works together to create a short skit completely on the spot. Teams are given surprise story elements during the tournament and have only two minutes to plan before performing. This year’s challenge focuses on opposites and storytelling through shadows. Teams used a shadow screen and simple materials to help tell and enhance the story creatively.
“We are proud of the incredible accomplishments of The Beach Park Biggies,” said Ms. Cranmer, 6th Grade Social Science Teacher and Destination Imagination Team Manager/Coordinator. “These achievements reflect hundreds of hours of preparation, collaboration, problem-solving, and innovation. We are incredibly proud of our students and coaches for representing our school community with excellence on the global stage.”
More than competition, Global Finals also gives students the opportunity to connect with peers from around the world, exchange ideas, and celebrate cultures through shared experiences centered around creativity and collaboration.
The team’s success highlights the power of student creativity, perseverance, and teamwork while showcasing the talent and dedication of Beach Park students on a global platform.
Please join Beach Park School District 3 in congratulating The Beach Park Biggies on this remarkable accomplishment.
