Early Childhood Special Education Services

The Beach Park District #3 Early Childhood Diagnostic Team based at Oak Crest provides diagnostic services to 3- and 4-year old children to determine their need and eligibility for special education programs and services.

A free screening is available for Beach Park School District residents who have concerns regarding their child’s school readiness. Children will be tested in the areas of speech/language, gross motor, fine motor, social behavior, concepts and vision/hearing. The screening will determine if an evaluation is necessary for eligibility to attend our Special Education Early Childhood Program. Proof of residency will be required. Please call Jan Schnettler at 847-599-5056 for further information or to schedule an appointment.

Children found eligible are provided service at Oak Crest in an instructional classroom.

The Early Childhood program also provides itinerant speech services to eligible students
