I would like to welcome you to the Newport Elementary School’s web page.  Newport Elementary School is located in Wadsworth, Illinois.  We are currently a kindergarten through fifth grade building, with about 395 students. 

The staff at Newport is dedicated to providing their students with an excellent education.   Newport has received awards for academic improvement as well as being recognized as a Spot Light School by the State of Illinois for our past test scores on the Illinois Standardized Achievement Test.

At Newport, we are enhancing learning through our Classrooms of the Future program.  Funded by the district and our PTA we are providing classrooms with the technology needed to create more powerful lessons which will greatly enhance our students love for learning.

Newport firmly believes that the more involved a child is with school the more interested in school the child will be.  We provide students with a variety of after school activities.  This year we have a fourth/fifth grade student council, first through fifth grade intramurals, art club, math/game club and drama club.  In addition to these activities we also provide an extensive after school tutoring program for students who need extra assistance in reading and math.  We also have a reading specialist and tutor on staff during the school day.
